Terms of use

Please read these before relying on anything on DCC Train Automation.

General information only

Everything on this site is general information. It isn’t professional advice and it doesn’t know your layout, your decoders or your command station. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your own equipment, and stop if a job turns out to be different from what a guide describes.

Electrical safety and your equipment

Model railway electronics run at low voltage, but they are powered from the mains. Use properly made, enclosed power supplies with the right rating, never open or modify mains equipment, and don’t leave a layout running unattended. A wiring mistake or a wrong CV value can damage a decoder, a loco or a command station: check your wiring before switching on, and keep a note of CV values before you change them. You are responsible for working safely, including with soldering irons and tools, and for keeping children away from hot or sharp tools and small parts.

Accuracy

We research each guide from the sources listed on it and show when it was last checked, but we can’t promise that every guide is complete, correct or current for your situation.
